It was a pleasure to work with Dr Anna Goulding at Northumbria University recently, as guest lecturer on the university’s BSc Health and Social Care degree programme. Anna leads the semester one, level 6 Health Care Interventions module and invited me along to discuss our work on evaluating creative interventions and arts and health initiatives.
My online presentation focused on our recent evaluation of the Lullaby project in Swansea Bay, with funding from Arts Council Wales and in collaboration with Live Music Now, Flying Start and Swansea Bay University Health Board. This provided an opportunity to discuss the impact of creative interventions in women’s perinatal health care, along with reflections on the practice of evaluation in the field, including methodological appropriateness and the need to understand interventions in context, including relativity to women’s individual life experiences and capacity for change.
Thank you to Anna for the kind invitation and to Northumbria students for their interest in the Lullaby project and its significant value to participating women.
